COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS
Making a Healthier Community, One Neighborhood at a Time

Strong and healthy neighborhoods benefit everyone. From 2011 through 2023, Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln worked to make our whole community healthier by organizing, sponsoring, and co-hosting an annual wellness event, Streets Alive! a one-day event that celebrates active, healthy living. Streets Alive! outdoor festivals filled the streets with free health resources, fitness, music, dance, art, and fresh healthy food, that welcomed thousands of people from all over the city.   Streets Alive!, a mobile wellness festival that moves to a different neighborhood every 2 years, is on hiatus for 2024 but will return refreshed and reimagined in the future.  Change is good!

Community Development Projects were an outgrowth of Streets Alive! In 2017, we began working with the neighborhoods that hosted Streets Alive! to identify and implement projects that could enhance neighborhood health through improved access to physical activity opportunities, walkability, and safety.  We collaborated with the host neighborhoods, Lincoln Parks and Recreation, community organizations, and other sponsors to make a lasting positive impact through a community development project that would not only benefit the host neighborhood but add to the beauty, safety, and well-being of our entire city.
