Recovery Happens Here.

Wellbeing Initiative’s mission is to empower individuals living with mental health and substance use challenges to reach their fullest potential. Wellbeing Initiative (WBI) believes in the power of lived experience to drive meaningful change. Through peer-led support, education, and advocacy, they empower individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges to reclaim their wellbeing.

The Wellbeing Initiative offers one-on-one and group support, so folks can access resources that work best for them. Recovery Community Navigators provide individual support, serving both urban and rural communities in SE Nebraska through Peer Support, overdose prevention, education on overdose, substance use, harm reduction, medication for substance use disorder, and Narcan. RCNs support people experiencing substance use and mental health challenges and their family members in accessing services and building natural support networks. The referral form for Recovery Community Navigators can be found here.

Community members can find group support by attending a variety of wellness groups and classes at one of WBI’s Wellness and Education Centers. There are centers in Lincoln, Omaha, Nebraska City, Falls City, Seward and York. Each location is an innovative space where people are invited to participate in a variety of groups focused on supporting their whole health. The centers are warm, welcoming, and inclusive, designed to support each person on their path of wellness and recovery and meet them where they’re at on their own unique journey. The groups are facilitated by Certified Peer Support Specialists who have specialized training. Updated schedules for each Wellness and Education Center can be found here.

Another valuable service offered by WBI is Peer Support Training. This training teaches the Five Primary Tools and fundamentals of Peer Support, and prepares individuals to pursue their State Certified Peer Support Certification. Not only a preparation for a Peer Support Career, the curriculum supports the development of relationship-building skills and recovery support that benefits anyone on their personal recovery journey.
