Trot ‘til you drop with the YMCA of Lincoln

With Thanksgiving on the horizon, are you dreaming of pumpkin lattes, caramel apples, turkey, and mashed potatoes? It’s finally fall, a favorite season to many who enjoy the fun foods, festivities, and cooler weather.

With four facilities in Lincoln, along with Youth Sports and the association’s overnight resident camp, YMCA Camp Kitaki, the Lincoln Y has been a gathering place for the community for over 150 years. There’s never a shortage of activities, and the YMCA invites you and your family to join them for what will be another beautiful fall at the Lincoln Y.

One of their signature events, the YMCA of Lincoln Turkey Trot presented by Union Bank & Trust, returns for its 15th year as one of the highly favored traditions on Thanksgiving morning. Held on November 23, this year’s family friendly event heads to the streets of downtown Lincoln in the Railyard, and features a 5K Race along with a 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk. Register or find more information here.

“We’re excited to give runners a new experience in downtown Lincoln while maintaining the traditional race elements that families look forward to every year,” shared Renee Yost, President & CEO of the Lincoln YMCA. “This event represents so much more than burning calories before a big meal – it’s an opportunity to bring the community together and raise money so more families can experience the Y. We’re incredibly grateful for Union Bank & Trust’s support and commitment to advancing our mission through events like the Turkey Trot.”

Proceeds from the Turkey Trot support the YMCA’s Annual Fundraising Campaign-Strong Kids which offers financial assistance for YMCA memberships, programs, youth sports, and camp fees to families who otherwise would not be able to participate due to financial limitations.

The registration fee for this year’s race is $19/person for the 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk, $34/person for the 5K or $72 for a family (up to five members) to participate in the Fun Run/Walk either in person or virtually. Participants who register prior to November 19 will also receive a 2023 YMCA Turkey Trot t-shirt. Find event details including registration information here.

There’s no better time to invest in your total health – mind, body, and spirit. Visit the Y this fall. Until then, be safe and be well!
